Padel trip to Valencia or Barcelona? Here's how to choose

Two top destinations, two very different experiences. Our honest comparison.

It's by far the most common question in our inbox: Valencia or Barcelona? Both cities are great, but they produce a completely different weekend. Here's our honest comparison, including the advice we'd give you on the phone.

Valencia: calmer, warmer, closer to the beach Valencia feels like a city on a human scale. You walk from the historic centre to Patacona beach in twenty minutes, where the paella still arrives in the pan on a Sunday afternoon.

The clubs are smaller and more personal. You play among local players, not in a sports factory. On your free day there's the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, and otherwise mostly time to do nothing.

Choose Valencia if your group mainly wants padel, food and time by the water.

Barcelona: more city, more choice, more nightlife Barcelona is louder, more international and endless in options. Big clubs with plenty of courts, restaurants on every street, and an evening that lasts as long as your group wants.

For large groups with different interests that's a real advantage. One goes into the city, one to the beach, one stays on court another hour. And on Saturday you can add an FC Barcelona match.

Choose Barcelona if you want sport combined with a proper city trip.

Our recommendation in one line Sport with calm: Valencia. Sport with city: Barcelona. A group of twelve or more with mixed tastes: Barcelona wins almost every time.

Really can't choose? Do Valencia in spring and Barcelona in autumn. That's exactly what several of our regular groups do.
